School Nutrition Professionals in the Magic Valley Help a Family in Need
ISNA would like to feature a story from the Kimberly School District which demonstrates the impact we have on the community around us through assisting a family through a difficult and trying time.
At the beginning of the 20/21 school year, a Kimberly High School senior was hospitalized and had to undergo a serious procedure. With five younger siblings at home, the parents took turns spending time in Utah at the hospital. Kimberly School District was home-delivering meals at that time, so the children at home were fed. Shortly before Thanksgiving break, Magic Valley SNA Chapter 6J of Area 6 used funds to purchase food and supplies to get the family through the break. As Christmas time approached, the KSD Transportation Department collected 5 large boxes of non-perishable food items for the family. These boxes along with more groceries and supplies were delivered to the family for Christmas break. As of Christmas break, the student is home and recovering but still has to make frequent trips to Utah for check-ups and treatment. KSD is planning on another delivery of food and supplies before Spring break.
Thank you to the Kimberly School District and Magic Valley SNA for stepping up and helping this family!
